What Happened?

Hey people, I am so sorry that this web page has been ignored. The Theater of the Mind podcast ran into some really tough times. Our sponsors dropped us, why I don't really know.

I was able to obtain the necessary equipment, programs and other materials for the podcast, but then the location I wanted to use, an old radio station, ended up being purchased by a group that works with the youth of my city.

So here is where we stand... The podcast has been put on indefinite hold until such time as I can  find a studio location. But here's something I will do for those of you who have been so faithful to me. I am going to post a few shows right here. There will be no commentary from me. Just the shows in their entirety. I will set up a separate page for each show and their will be some information on the show and then the show itself. When we are finally able to obtain a studio location then we will go back to doing the podcasts.

I feel really bad about before and I hope you will understand. This is a one man show and when the tap shoes start to wear through you just have to dance that much harder and hope that you will be able to afford new shoes some day. But until then enjoy the shows.

A Warm and Hearty Welcome

Well this is the post where I get to tell you all about me. Then I get to introduce myself. Okay well here goes. My name is Jay Allen a typical midwestern kinda guy and I am the host of a really new, kinda cool podcast called, The Theater of the Mind. Now you might be saying, "so what.... who cares?"

Well this show will be a two hour podcast that showcases the greatest of the classic old time radio programs. From Your's Truly Johnny Dollar to Dragnet and Our Miss Brooks, I'll be playing them every Saturday night and I hope you will subscribe to my feed and enjoy these classic programs whenever you can. That is the joy of podcasts right? Now I've taken out all the commercials. And I'll throw in some historical information. And hopefully you will get the feel of these programs just like people did back in the day.

Now to do this right I will need your help. Yes, there is a gofundme page set up. That money will be used to purchase equipment so that we can produce a high quality podcast each and every Saturday night. So if you can see your way clear to drop a few dollars in every now and then that would be cool. But I also need your feedback. Tell me what you like, and what you don't like. I can take criticism. Right now this is just a one man operation. But if things work out I hope to have others in here to help me. I also hope to have some interviews that will be of interest to you. But the first and most important goal of this show is to provide you with the best that classic old time radio has to offer.

And as this thing takes off I hope to be able to offer my listeners an opportunity to participate choosing which programs we air. In the beginning the show will consist of hour one Dragnet and Gunsmoke. Two iconic programs that I think everyone if they can't remember hearing them on the radio most definitely have seen them on television. The second hour will have revolving programming and I guess that is where you the listen comes in. You will get to help me choose the programs for the second hour. There will be a list of programs each week and we will hold a pole and see which ones get the highest votes and then the next week we will bring you the show that listeners have chosen.

May 7th is our premiere and I hope you will join us for The Theater of the Mind. Okay I have to get back to work now thanks for taking the time to read all this.
